The card you use inside the club is the wrong card at its own pump, and this is exactly the kind of answer people get wrong. BJ's own cards earn nothing on fuel: gas is excluded from eligible BJ's purchases and excluded from the outside-of-BJ's rate as well, so both the BJ's One and the BJ's One+ pay zero at BJ's Gas. What the club gives you instead is an instant 10 cents off per gallon, and claiming it requires paying with a BJ's card and scanning your membership card at the pump.

That means the discount and a rewards card are mutually exclusive, so price them against each other. Ten cents off is worth about 3% at $3.00 a gallon, and the percentage shrinks as fuel gets more expensive — at $4.00 the same dime is 2.5%.
