Our take
QuicksilverOne is Capital One's fair-and-average-credit door into flat-rate cash back: unlimited 1.5% on every purchase, no categories to track, no caps, and rewards that never expire for the life of the account. The catch sits right on the price tag — a $39 annual fee for the same earn rate its sibling Quicksilver gives stronger credit profiles for free.
Run the math before the fee scares you off: at 1.5%, about $2,600 of annual spending earns the $39 back, and everything past that is profit. The real pitch is the ladder — Capital One automatically reviews the account for a higher credit line in as little as six months, and a better score later opens the no-fee products. There is no signup bonus to sweeten year one, so treat this as a stepping stone with a modest toll, not a destination.
The 5% rates carry the usual Capital One string: hotels, rental cars and vacation rentals earn 5% only when booked through Capital One Travel, and tickets earn 5% only on the Capital One Entertainment platform — cardholder pre-sales and Capital One Hall or Arena box-office purchases are excluded. Pay a hotel directly and you are back at 1.5%. One genuinely uncommon perk at this credit tier: no foreign transaction fee, so purchases abroad earn the same rate with nothing skimmed off the top.
In a wallet, it plays the floor for a credit-building stretch: route everyday spending through it at 1.5%, use Capital One Travel when the portal price already competes with booking direct, and once your score clears the bar for the no-fee Quicksilver, that card makes this one obsolete — same rate, minus the $39.
The math
Run $250 a month of hotels through this card and you're earning about $150 a year at our conservative valuations. Against the $39 annual fee, that top rate needs roughly $125 a month of hotels spend before it beats a no-fee flat 2% card.

Common questions
- Does QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards have an annual fee?
- Yes — $39 per year.
- What does QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards earn on hotels?
- 5% on hotels (book via capital one travel).
- What rewards does QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards earn on everything else?
- 1.5% on all other purchases, in Cash Back.
- How is QuicksilverOne different from the regular Quicksilver?
- They earn identically: a flat 1.5% cash back on everything and 5% on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. The differences are audience and price — QuicksilverOne is built for fair or average credit, charges a $39 annual fee, and advertises no signup bonus, while the no-fee Quicksilver targets stronger credit profiles. If you qualify for Quicksilver, there is no reason to pay the $39.
- Is the $39 annual fee worth paying?
- At 1.5% back, about $2,600 of annual spending earns the fee back, and everything beyond that is profit. If your credit limits your options, it is a fair toll for unlimited cash back with no foreign transaction fee — and Capital One automatically reviews the account for a higher credit line in as little as six months, which is the real point of the card.
- Do I have to book through Capital One Travel to get the 5% back?
- Yes. Hotels, rental cars and vacation rentals earn 5% only when booked through Capital One Travel; pay the property directly and you earn the 1.5% base rate. Capital One's terms are explicit that incidentals, upgrades and other expenses paid outside the portal earn 1.5%, so only the prepaid booking itself gets the boost.
